Overview

The Draw is built local-first: your profile, journal, and Wish balance live on your device by default, and no account is required to use the app.

This policy describes what information The Draw collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 2026-10-14.

What's stored on your device

• Your birth date, and optionally birth time and birth place, used to calculate your sun, moon, and (if provided) rising sign.
• Journal entries: saved readings, including the category and any question you typed in.
• Your Wish balance and history of how it was earned or spent.

This information is also backed up to our server, described below.

What's stored on our server

There's no signup. When you first open the app, it creates an anonymous ID for you, with no email, name or phone number attached, and backs up your data under that ID.

Stored with our cloud database provider under that anonymous ID: your profile (name, birth date, and birth time and place if you've added them), your journal entries (including the category, any question you typed, notes, ratings and follow-up conversations), and your Wish balance with its history of earning and spending. Your Wish balance is checked on our server before each paid reading, so purchases and spending can't be faked from the device.

If a "dive deeper" conversation trips our automatic abuse checks (for example, far more exchanges on one reading than normal use), the question that tripped it is kept for manual review, under the same anonymous ID.

Adding your email (optional). Under You → Cloud backup you can add an email address. That links your data to the email, so it can follow you to a new device or survive a reinstall. Without an email, your data can only be reached from the app on this phone: if you uninstall without deleting it first, the server copy stays under an ID that we can't link back to you. On Android, uninstalling also removes the phone's link to it. On iPhone, iOS keeps the app's sign-in after the app is deleted, so reinstalling on the same phone usually reconnects you to that copy; use Delete all my data if you want it gone.

We keep this data until you delete it (see Your choices).

What's sent to generate a reading

When a reading calls the AI, only what's needed for that one reading is sent — nothing is sent for offline-mode readings.

For a personalized reading, we send the card(s) drawn, your name and birthplace if you've set them, your chart details (sun/moon, and rising if you've added it), the category you picked, and your question if you typed one, to our reading proxy, which forwards it to a third-party AI service provider to generate the reading text. The app asks your permission before the first time it sends anything for an AI reading; if you choose offline readings instead, nothing is sent. Follow-up questions and "dive deeper" requests on that same reading send your name again, along with the reading given so far and your new question, so the AI can keep answering in context. This data is used only to produce that one response — it is not used to train models and is not retained by us beyond what's needed to serve the request and to guard against abuse (rate limiting). The AI service provider keeps inputs and outputs on its own systems for up to 30 days under its standard data retention policy, independent of anything described above.

If you choose to include past readings for extra context on the Draw screen — an optional, opt-in step, off by default — a short summary of patterns from your own recent journal entries is sent along with the rest, to that same reading proxy and for that same one-time use. Nothing from your journal is ever sent unless you turn this on for that specific reading.

A "read for someone else" reading sends your relationship to that person, the category, and your question about them — never any identifying information about the third party, because none is collected in the first place.

Offline mode skips all of this: it falls back to each card's general meaning plus your own zodiac sign, on-device, with nothing sent to the AI. It doesn't stop the backup described above, which still runs whenever your phone has a connection.

Advertising

The free version of The Draw shows ads served by Google AdMob. A Wisher subscription removes all ads.

There are three ad formats: rewarded videos you choose to watch in exchange for Wishes or to unlock a single draw; full-screen ads shown occasionally between actions (for example after finishing a reading, or before revealing a free Card of the Day / Year Book draw); and banner ads at the bottom of some screens.

To serve and measure these ads, Google AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier and collect data such as your approximate (non-precise) location, device type, and ad interactions, under Google's own privacy terms. We do not send your journal, saved readings, questions, chart details, name, or email to the ad network — none of that is ever shared with Google for advertising.

You can reset your advertising identifier or turn off ad personalization in your device settings: on iOS, Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising; on Android, Settings → Privacy → Ads.

What we don't collect

• No sale of personal data to third parties.
• No sharing of your readings, journal, questions, chart, or contact details with advertisers (see Advertising, above).
• No information about anyone you read for "someone else" — that flow is designed to collect nothing about them at all.

Your choices

• Turn on Offline mode to keep your readings, questions and chart away from the AI.
• Delete everything at any time from You → Cloud backup: Delete all my data (no email added) or Delete my account (email added). This permanently removes your data from this phone and from our server, no need to contact us. Do this before uninstalling: uninstalling alone only removes the copy on your phone.
• Deleting without the app. If you added an email under Cloud backup, email thedrawtarot@gmail.com from that address and ask us to delete your The Draw account. We permanently delete your account and everything stored with it (profiles, journal entries, Year Book readings, Wish balance and history) within 30 days, usually sooner, and confirm by email. Records of purchases made through Google Play or the App Store are kept by those stores under their own policies. If you never added an email, we can't tell which anonymous data is yours, so please use Delete all my data in the app instead.
• Deleting some of your data. To delete a single saved reading without deleting your account, open The Draw's Journal tab and tap Remove on that entry. It's deleted from your phone and from our server straight away; the rest of your data is kept. To have specific readings deleted without the app, email thedrawtarot@gmail.com from the address you added under Cloud backup and tell us which ones; we delete them within 30 days and confirm by email.
• Request a copy of your data, including your full Wish transaction history and saved readings, by emailing thedrawtarot@gmail.com from the email address you added under Cloud backup. We reply within 30 days, usually sooner. If you never added an email, we have no way to confirm which anonymous data is yours, so we can't send or change it on request; you can still delete it yourself in the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way after launch, we'll update the date above and note the change here.
